Event managed by Essentially Group, the evening of drinks, dinner and entertainment enabled guests to mingle with current and past Olympians as they showed their support for Right To Play, a charity which uses sport and play to improve health, develop life skills, and foster peace for disadvantaged children and communities.
The event was attended by 500 guests, who enjoyed a sparkling wine and cocktail reception within the impressive surrounds of the Roundhouse’s Main Space, before being introduced to 20 Right To Play Athlete Ambassadors, including Olympic gold medallists Anna Watkins, Greg Rutherford and Mark Hunter.
Create’s menu for the evening was befitting of the occasion, beginning with a starter of salmon, horseradish and dill rillettes, or spiced Moroccan terrine with cranberries and apricot, before main courses of slow roasted guinea fowl with golden potato rosti, or a vegetarian option of butternut squash and sage pithivier. The meal closed with a dessert of warm apple and cinnamon baked in golden buttery puff pastry, dredged in cinnamon icing sugar – the perfect dish for a chilly winter’s night!
The evening was hosted by John Inverdale and Olympic skier and Right To Play Athlete Ambassador Chemmy Alcott. Guests were also treated to a talk from Right To Play Coach Doreen, who volunteers for the charity in Ghana. During the event a raffle and auction enabled guests to raise outstanding levels of money for the charity – making 2013’s Big Red Ball a huge success.
